Today Wilna shares such a beautiful and unique technique for working with ribbon. Once again she takes a product we all have and comes up with a cool way to use it! Love how she sewed strips of ribbon at the top and layered with stickers and chipboard. Check out her video for a full tutorial on how to recreate and lift these fun ideas.

Times Up 07: You Are My Anchor with Stephanie

1 Comment Scrapbook Pages 12x12, Times Up

One of my favorite things about this layout by Stephanie is the pop of turquoise and yellow/gold. Such a nice touch! -Lizzy

Hey y’all!

This is Stephanie and I’m here with another Time’s Up layout! This column has taken a whole new meaning to me the past few months. At first I thought it would be a fun challenge for me, and then I started realizing that breaking my creative time into chunks is a necessity if I want to get anything done.
This layout makes me so happy. I rarely have photos with my husband. We always have the best of intentions, but we run out of time. When we got a shot on our ten year anniversary, I just knew I had to use it on a layout. I coupled it with an Instagram photo of us from this past summer.

Time taken to complete layout- 35 minutes. Three ten minute chunks and a short chunk of five minutes.
First ten minutes- print photos. place chipboard heart over small photo and mat larger photo on patterned paper. trim left side of photo mat with pinking shears. tuck doily envelope on right side of larger photo. mist back of chevron card with color shine, set aside. layer doily, large photo, and anchor tag. adhere.

Second ten minutes- layer smaller photo on misted chevron card, adhere. cut strips of anchor washi and layer on left and right sides of page. place miniature doilies, anchors, and enamel dots on top of washi strips.
Third ten minutes- tuck tag and enamel dot under left photo. add date and details. add stickers and garland.
Final chunk of five minutes- add journaling. use 2 different sized pens to add visual interest.

Supplies used: patterned papers- Dear Lizzy; “You Anchor Me” paper- Glitz Design; Anchor washi tape, Anchor garland- Glitz Design; Chevron 4×6 card- Dear Lizzy; Chipboard anchors- Dear Lizzy; Enamel Dots- MME; Small Doilies- Greatest View ;Mint Green Color Shine- Heidi Swapp; Date Tag- Chic Tags; Chipboard Heart Frame- Crate Paper; Doily- Michael’s; Stickers- Dear Lizzy; Doily Envelope- Martha Stewart; Journaling Pens (medium tip, .03 tip)- Recollections

Guest Designer: Suzy Plantamura

11 Comments Dear Lizzy Products, Mini Albums

Today we have a guest designer at Paper Party– Suzy Plantamura! She is an incredible designer and doodler. (You will see some of her doodles in her album below.) I’ve met her through scrapbooking and she has become a great friend! She’s hilarious and has a contagious joy for life… even during hard times. Thanks Suzy! Her album turned out gorgeous using my newest Lucky Charm collection!

I made a mini album using the Lucky Charm line by Dear Lizzy. I am so in love with this line. I like the colors, all the fun designs, and the overall happy feel of it. I decided to use it to make an album all about me and what makes me happy. I went to my Instragram feed and realized just about everything that makes me happy is RIGHT there. So I printed a bunch of my Instagram photos from the past year all in 2×2 squares and used them throughout the album. There are A LOT of spreads in this album, so this is going to be a very long post!

I made the album to be 4×6, but I used lots of inserts in other shapes and sizes. But the cover is 4″ x 6″ and it is held together by four rings. By using four, I was able to keep my smaller inserts stable with two holes. For most of the pages, I just cut some of her 12×12 papers and many papers from her 6×6 pad and backed them together. The next step was adding stickers and other items from the line to create page bases.
Between each 4×6 page, I put a tag or an insert of some sort in different sizes. I used many of her stickers, die cuts, chipboard pieces or just photos backed together for the inserts. The heart shape is a die cut and the “hello” card is cut from a piece of 12×12 paper. The word “happy” was a die cut as well. The title of the book is “My Story of the Things That Make Me Happy”.

There are four different vellum sheets as part of this collection and I used 4×6 pieces of those for pages as well. I love all the little sayings in the line (which go well with my theme), so I dispersed them throughout.
And of course I had to add some of my doodles that need a home to the inside of the album. I just backed two together to create an insert. The only thing I really added to the Lucky Charm line is some different washi tapes that matched and a bunch of the My Minds Eye enamel dots. I LOVE the die cut cards like the one above “hello sunshine” and I used the letters that came out of the die cuts in the album as well.

For this insert, I just folded a 4×6 journaling card I cut from a 12×12 piece of paper in half and then added some washi to teh edge and decorated the top. For the food page, I used six 2×2 photos to create each side of the page and stitched along the outside edges. You can’t have a book of favorite things without including food (in my book – haha!).

I printed all my photos on matte photo paper so I could stamp right on top of them. The roller stamp with different sayings is one of my favorite products so I used it thoughout on top of my photos.

I’m showing you every single page in this book and there are a lot of them! The colors in this line go so well with all my sunset pictures. The hues matched perfectly! I made this insert to be 3″ wide x 7″ tall just because I like the book to look all mismatched with things hanging out of it. I also used her tags as inserts backed together.

I created a pocket for a tag with journaling using die cuts and staples. The balloon is also a die cut. This heart die cut paper is divine – I love it! I backed it with pink paper and added my flowers because it is so dainty and feminine. (the clothes pins are from Pebbles). For tabs on some of the pages, I used two circle stickers back to back hanging over the edges.

I made this page with another of the 4×6 die cut pages with this adorable saying – love it!

Times Up 06: With Stephanie

3 Comments Scrapbook Pages 12x12, Times Up

TIMES UP:
Time to complete- 20 minutes in (2) ten minute chunks.
1st 10 minute chunk- Adhere photo to doily, cluster items around bottom left of photo and top right of page.
2nd 10 minute chunk- string tags on ribbon, add embellishments and title to tags. finally, add journaling to left tag. This month’s layout is super simple. I just didn’t have time (as hard as I tried) to do something more intricate or fancy. But here’s what I’ve come to understand. I got this memory and story down and I did get to make a few embellishment clusters which satisfied my creative side. As my dad says…it is what it is. :) Hopefully next month I’ll have more creative time and I can add in more “chunks” for a more embellished page.-Stephanie

Ombre Painting Technique with Lizzy

1 Comment Color with Lizzy, Dear Lizzy Products, Scrapbook Pages 12x12, Videos

This page is for my Two Peas garden girl gallery where monthly I put together a mood board and how it inspired a sprapbook layout.
This month I was inspired by ombre or dip dyeing. As seen on the cake, sweater and paint strokes.
I was inspired by the color and some other type techniques seen in the mix.

I share a technique using your left over thickers and paint… to give your page a lot of texture and dimension. Plus, you can use up your extra letters.
Works best with foam thickers!

***In the video I fill the whole page up with letters, it worked best to show the painting technique BUT plan ahead and just add the thickers around the edge. I have done that before and no one would know it’s only around the edge and you use less thickers.

This is a very cool technique using your thickers as a mask and spraying them with mist!

Times Up 05 with Stephanie

3 Comments Scrapbook Pages 12x12, Times Up
I love this Times Up article by Stephanie. She had a really busy couple weeks with her family and walks us through how she finished a page in six 5 minute chunks. How awesome that even when life is chaotic she makes time to document photos and life?!
I told you she was super mom! xo, Lizzy
Time to complete- 30 minutes in six  5 minute chunks.
Here’s how I made it work. First, all the papers and embellishments I used are from one line (Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm). This means I didn’t have to search for matching items. By using only one collection on your page…it all just “fits” without any muscle work.
Second- I chose photos from my “already printed” pile. Every few months, I order a couple hundred 4×6 prints from Snapfish. They sit in a pile on my desk and I use them when I don’t have time to print photos.
1st 5 minute chunk- Select photos, adhere to vellum. Trim vellum. Apply chipboard title to photos.Place heart clip and sticker to left of title.
2nd 5 minute chunk-Arrange embellishments so they “peek” around photo mat. doily under title, flower stickers on bottom right corner of photos and top right and  left corners of photos. Add enamel dots as embellishments to flowers.
3rd 5 minute chunk- Adhere “You make my heart sing” die cut card to paper from 6×6 pad. Place to right of photo mat, arrange doily so it is peeking out to right of title card.
4th 5 minute chunk- Scatter more embellishments. Add badge and arrow sticker, add subtitle using die cut banner
5th 5 minute chunk-Add star sequins (on pop dots), star stickers, and star rub-ons.Put enamel dots on star stickers.
6th 5 minute chunk- Journaling, quickly stamp phrases around page.

I used a bayer and mixed some gesso and mod podge and rolled the paint on. Then I used a heating tool to dry the ruffles so that they are dimensional. See video below for all the creative details for painting on ruffles!
