Color with Lizzy: Diecut hearts

2 Comments Color with Lizzy, Scrapbook Pages 12x12

This month I went super girly with my garden project and used girly colors to reflect that.
Since I am now 36 weeks pregnant with a boy after 3 girls it will be interesting to see how the dynamics change in our home. My friend took these pictures for a blog feature in February and I am so grateful now that we did it since it captures me and just my girls. This page was fun to celebrate being a mother and how much I love them.

I was inspired by some wrapping paper on Pinterest where it had half of the shape of hearts cut out of brown paper and then a red wrapping paper behind it. I wanted to try it on a scrapbook page. I used my Silhouette Cameo and traced half of a heart shape. Then cut half of a heart onto some cardstock. Then folded back half of the hearts. It turned out pretty cool. Much better when you can see it in person. I backed it with some patterned paper so the hearts showed up and had something behind them. I also diecut the title, My Heart.
After that it was lots of layering with some of the new products from my Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm stickers and paper. “Just keep layering… just keep layering…”

Video Tutorial with Lizzy

3 Comments Color with Lizzy, Dear Lizzy Products, Scrapbook Pages 12x12

It’s been really fun to see how the mood boards I put together each month jumpstart my creative process. Each one has been so different and has inspired me in different ways.
This month I tried out some painting inspired by a painted leather clutch and you’ll see lots of triangles.
I use masks with mist and paint as well as mix my own concoction of Mister Hueys.

Here is a video tutorial below sharing a step by step process of how I put it together. A couple of the techniques I incorporated was the first time doing it so it’s fun to see what works and what doesn’t. Thanks for watching…

Ombre Painting Technique with Lizzy

1 Comment Color with Lizzy, Dear Lizzy Products, Scrapbook Pages 12x12, Videos

This page is for my Two Peas garden girl gallery where monthly I put together a mood board and how it inspired a sprapbook layout.
This month I was inspired by ombre or dip dyeing. As seen on the cake, sweater and paint strokes.
I was inspired by the color and some other type techniques seen in the mix.

I share a technique using your left over thickers and paint… to give your page a lot of texture and dimension. Plus, you can use up your extra letters.
Works best with foam thickers!

***In the video I fill the whole page up with letters, it worked best to show the painting technique BUT plan ahead and just add the thickers around the edge. I have done that before and no one would know it’s only around the edge and you use less thickers.

Valentines Layout: color concept with Lizzy

20 Comments Color with Lizzy, Dear Lizzy Products, Scrapbook Pages 12x12

Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day I thought I’d share this layout I made for my Two Peas Garden Girl project. It took me longer than I had hoped to get the title right. But I love the quote, “You have my whole heart for my whole life” and I wanted to diecut it with my Silhouette Cameo somewhere on the layout. I tried other patterned papers and color combinations and finally realized that I am definitely drawn to more white on my projects.

I diecut the quote and three hearts below it. I backed the three hearts with patterned paper. I used a punch to punch out the larger hearts below those. Then added some stitching to ground those hearts. The small triangle paper is from my newest Lucky Charm collection that should we available online soon. If you are interested in the cut file let me know. xo, Lizzy

I love messy stamping so I stamped with the arrow then did a few more until the ink fades away. Same with my date stamp.

COLOR CONCEPT:
I wanted the color combination to be light and airy with the mint and the white then a pop of color. I chose red for obvious reasons as well as a black and white stripe and some turquoise. I used the gallon, quart pint concept for this layout. The gallon of color is white, quart is blue and the pint is red. It helps the layout to feel balanced and the page to really pop. I also chose pictures where the pint of color was displayed so the photos stood out as well. Thanks for looking!
